Currently the regional capital, Fez is expanding its influence in the Middle Atlas, Rif Saïs by its trade and services. Through its intellectual and religious (Islamic universities and modern universities), it radiates far beyond its economic region. Old city of craft, always at the forefront of Moroccan cities, it has kept its typical style. Since the classification by Unesco in 1981 of the Medina of Fez, a world heritage site, the popularity of the city and its guest houses are in constant growth.
